According to an infographic published by Online Schools, the online dating industry makes more ($1.049 billion per year!) than the porn industry.

It’s interesting that both industries have similar subscription models. I mean, people pay a premium for either – about $30 per month for access to one site. You can list yourself on a free dating site almost as easily as you can find free porn (you do have to create a profile for the former). Yet you get what you pay for is probably an observation reported by both daters and masturbators.

Overall, this statistic is encouraging. It means that people want to connect, not just jack or jill off in front a computer.

What I’m curious about is the overlap. How many people spend their hard-earned cash on both Match and Suicide Girls?
